About Me

When I’m not deep in systems design or architectural strategy, I’m usually on a winding road somewhere in the countryside — cycling is my way of clearing the mind and stretching the legs. I’ve spent years in the saddle, and while I used to play many sports, these days I stick to cycling and hiking… and the occasional armchair rugby analysis.

I’m also deeply interested in mushroom foraging — nearly a passion. It’s a humbling mix of caution, study, and reward. You don’t always find something edible, but the quiet learning and slow mastery are their own kind of satisfaction. It’s about discovery, care, and a little bit of adventure — a philosophy I find useful well beyond the woods.

Food, though, is a passion. Or, should I say cooking. Both I suppose. I cook often and from many traditions. It’s an artistic outlet and a technical challenge — improvising with what’s at hand, trying new techniques, and most importantly, creating something others can enjoy. Whether it’s feeding family or friends, there’s joy in crafting something ephemeral but memorable.

And while I’ve held senior technical and leadership roles for many years, I’ve never stopped being a hands-on technologist. I still enjoy diving into new frameworks, tools, and ways of working — sometimes for a specific project, sometimes just for fun. The exploration is part of the craft. Part of the fun. I’d be doing it even if it weren’t my job — it’s simply part of how I think and work.

I also enjoy travel — not just sightseeing, but the full cultural experience: food, language, daily life. After time in the UK and New Zealand, my wife and I realized that France offered the rhythm, richness, and beauty we were looking for. We made the move from Canada and have planted our roots here. We’re not just visiting; we’re here to live, contribute, and grow old in a country we’ve come to love.

Recently, we bought a 200-year-old house that needs a bit of everything. Fortunately, we both enjoy hands-on renovation — especially when it involves blocks of stone and wood beams with stories to tell. Between my professional work, creative pursuits, and helping my wife from time to time with her vintage furniture business, life stays full, curious, and rewarding.
